Nature, Observed
My work always begins with observation. I spend time looking closely at the natural world - its forms, colours, textures, and small details - and use sketches, photographs, and direct observation to understand my subject.
From there, I develop each illustration gradually, working primarily in watercolour and incorporating coloured pencil, graphite, ink, or gouache where they help capture the character and detail of the subject.
The goal is not simply to reproduce what I see, but to create a illustration that reflects the experience of looking closely. Each piece is an invitation to pause, notice, and appreciate the natural world.

Alisha Alladina-Morrison
Currently based in Ottawa, Ontario, Alisha draws inspiration from the fascinating natural world around her. Through the use of watercolours, gouache, ink and dabbling in digital techniques, she translates what the eye sees to paper to bring her subjects to life. She enjoys blending the detail of natural science illustration with a more expressive style. Alisha is a graduate of the Natural Science Illustration Program at the Rhode Island School of Design.
